The piece in short

Origin Iran, format 83 × 120 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 1 m², or 2.7' × 3.9'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool, silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.

Where it fits

The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.

How it reads

The stated colourway is Weiß / beige. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
