Overview

Origin Iran, format 64 × 54 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. That is roughly 0.35 m² of floor, about 2.1' × 1.8'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool, silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 6 mm. Weight is given as ap. 2 kg.

Size and placement

The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.

Colour and appearance
