About this rug

Origin Iran, format 425 × 344 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 14.62 m², or 13.9' × 11.3'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 8 mm.

Size and placement

The rug is rectangular. At this size the rug defines the room rather than accenting it.

Knot density and quality

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

How it reads

The stated colourway is multicolour. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.

Age

Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. Being recent, the pile shows little wear and holds its full height.
