Origin Iran, format 86 × 251 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 2.16 m², or 2.8' × 8.2'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.

Format and use

The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 700,000–799,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

On the colourway

The stated colourway is red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
