Origin Iran, format 60 × 95 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 0.57 m² (2' × 3.1'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool, silk. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.

Size and placement

The rug is rectangular. A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². A knot count at this level belongs to the upper quality class of handmade rugs.

Colour and appearance

It is catalogued under multicolour. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
