The piece in short

A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 256 × 346 cm. The covered area is about 8.86 m² (8.4' × 11.4'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.

Where it fits

The rug is rectangular. A large format for open-plan rooms or formal reception spaces.

On the knot count

The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.

Colour and appearance

Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
