Overview

This Tabriz comes from Iran and measures 100 × 160 cm. The covered area is about 1.6 m² (3.3' × 5.2'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

What it is made of

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool, silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.

The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.

On the colourway

The stated colourway is red and orange. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
