Overview

Origin Iran, format 285 × 203 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. That is roughly 5.79 m² of floor, about 9.4' × 6.7'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

What it is made of

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as approx. 10 mm. Weight is given as ap. 18 kg.

The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.

The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.

On the colourway

The stated colourway is blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.

Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
