About this rug

Origin Iran, format 201 × 287 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 5.77 m² (6.6' × 9.4'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.

Format and use

At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.

On the colourway

Colour is recorded as red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.
