Overview

Origin India, format 300 × 203 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 6.09 m², or 9.8' × 6.7'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

Stated material: bamboo silk (viscose), cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as approx. 10 mm. Weight is given as ap. 20 kg.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

How it reads

The stated colourway is Weiß / beige. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
