A Shiraz from Iran, measuring 280 × 193 cm. That is roughly 5.4 m² of floor, about 9.2' × 6.3'. Shiraz rugs come from a nomadic weaving tradition.

Materials and construction

Stated material: new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout.

Size and placement

The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is under 200,000 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.

On the colourway

The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
