Origin Iran, format 300 × 200 cm — a Qom made entirely by hand. That is roughly 6 m² of floor, about 9.8' × 6.6'. Qom is known for very finely knotted rugs, often in silk.

Stated material: silk, silk warp. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 6 mm. Weight is given as approx. 18 kg.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. At this size it anchors a living room as the central surface.

Knot density and quality

The stated knot density is 900,000–999,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

How it reads

Colour is recorded as blue / Türkis. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.

Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
