Overview

Origin Iran, format 95 × 200 cm — a Nain made entirely by hand. That is roughly 1.9 m² of floor, about 3.1' × 6.6'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.

Size and placement

The format suits the space in front of a sofa, a small dining table, or a study.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.

On the colourway

Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
