Origin Iran, format 200 × 310 cm — a Isfahan made entirely by hand. That is roughly 6.2 m² of floor, about 6.6' × 10.2'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.

Stated material: new wool, silk, silk warp. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.

The rug is rectangular. Large enough to hold a full seating group.

Knot density and quality

The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

Colour and appearance

Colour is recorded as red and orange. Silk takes light differently from wool, so the same area can look pale from one side and deep from the other.
