Origin Iran, format 132 × 80 cm — a Bijar made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 1.06 m², or 4.3' × 2.6'.

Construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 8 mm. Weight is given as ap. 6 kg.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. Small enough to sit in front of a dresser or just inside a door.

On the knot count

The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.

Colour and appearance

The stated colourway is red and orange. Depending on the light and the direction you look from, the surface reads lighter or darker — a property of every handmade rug.

Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. As a contemporary piece the pile is still even and largely unwalked.
