Overview

A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 335 × 223 cm. It covers approximately 7.47 m², or 11' × 7.3'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

What it is made of

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 10 mm. Weight is given as ap. 18 kg.

The rug is rectangular. A large format for open-plan rooms or formal reception spaces.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². Knotting at this density allows detailed drawing and soft transitions between colours.
