Origin Iran, format 190 × 130 cm — a Tabriz made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 2.47 m² (6.2' × 4.3'). Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.
Construction
Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 8 mm. Weight is given as ap. 10 kg.

The rug is rectangular. A format for a smaller room, or the area directly in front of a sofa.
Fineness of the knotting
The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.
Colour and appearance
Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.

Stated age: antique. In a rug of this age, patina and some pile loss belong to the picture.
