Overview

Hand-knotted in Iran: a Tabriz of 380 × 290 cm. It covers approximately 11.02 m², or 12.5' × 9.5'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as approx. 10 mm. Weight is given as ap. 35 kg.

Where it fits

The rug is rectangular. A format for large rooms, with space for an entire seating arrangement.

Knot density and quality

The stated knot density is 300,000–399,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

Colour and appearance

Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.

Age and condition

Stated age: contemporary, 0–20 years old. Being recent, the pile shows little wear and holds its full height.
