Overview

A Tabriz from Iran, measuring 201 × 299 cm. That is roughly 6.01 m² of floor, about 6.6' × 9.8'. Tabriz is one of the oldest and most important weaving centres in Persia.

Materials and construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.

The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 200,000–299,999 knots/m². In the mid range the pattern stays clearly legible without making the rug delicate.
