Origin Iran, format 209 × 261 cm — a Nain made entirely by hand. The covered area is about 5.45 m² (6.9' × 8.6'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.

Construction

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.

The rug is rectangular. A size where sofa and armchairs can rest their front legs on the rug.

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.
