Origin Iran, format 82 × 124 cm — a Isfahan made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 1.02 m², or 2.7' × 4.1'. Isfahan has stood for exceptionally fine knotting for centuries.

Construction

Stated material: new wool, silk, silk warp. It is entirely hand-knotted. Pile height is given as 7-10mm.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.

Fineness of the knotting

The stated knot density is 800,000–899,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

Colour and appearance

Colour is recorded as red and orange. With traditionally dyed wool, small variations of tone within one field are normal.
