Overview

Hand-knotted in Iran: a Nain of 90 × 60 cm. The covered area is about 0.54 m² (3' × 2'). Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool, silk. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as approx. 8 mm. Weight is given as approx. 2 kg.

The rug is rectangular. At this size it works as an entryway mat or a bedside rug.

The stated knot density is 400,000–499,999 knots/m². At this density even small-scale motifs can be worked out cleanly.

The stated colourway is red and orange. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
