Origin Iran, format 80 × 117 cm — a Nain made entirely by hand. It covers approximately 0.94 m², or 2.6' × 3.8'. Nain rugs are traditionally finely knotted, with pale ivory and blue palettes.

What it is made of

Stated material: cotton warp, new wool. The rug was hand-knotted throughout. Pile height is given as 10-12mm.

Format and use

The rug is rectangular. A small format, at home in a hallway, beside a bed, or in front of a bench.

Knot density and quality

The stated knot density is 500,000–599,999 knots/m². Very fine knotting of this kind takes many times the working hours and shows correspondingly precise pattern work.

On the colourway

The stated colourway is blue / Türkis. Handmade rugs always show slight colour shifts from knot to knot — that is a mark of hand work, not a defect.
